ਏ ਮਨਾ ਅਤਿ ਲੋਭੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਲੋਭੇ ਰਾਤਾ ॥

O my utterly greedy mind, you are constantly engrossed in greed.

ਹੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੋਭੀ ਮਨ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ ਪਇਆ ਰਹਿਨਾ?

ਮਾਇਆ ਮਨਸਾ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਫਿਰਾਤਾ ॥

In your desire for the enticing Maya, you wander in the ten directions.

ਮੋਹਣੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਚਾਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੂੰ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭਉਂਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।

ਅਗੈ ਨਾਉ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਇਸੀ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਾਤਾ ॥

Your name and social status shall not go with you hereafter; the self-willed manmukh is consumed by pain.

ਹੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ (ਮਨ!) ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਨਾਮ ਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੁੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਦੁੱਖ ਭੋਗੇਂਗਾ;

ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਚਖਿਓ ਫੀਕਾ ਬੋਲਾਤਾ ॥

Your tongue does not taste the sublime essence of the Lord; it utters only insipid words.

ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਫਿੱਕਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਬਚਨ ਹੀ) ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
