ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਚੌਪਈ:
ਧਰਵਾਰਨ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਧਨ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
(ਇਕ ਵਾਰ) ਧਾੜਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਲੁਟ ਲਿਆ।
ਪੁਰੀ ਆਇ ਪਾਲਕਨ ਪੁਕਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
When the enemy took away their wealth (of the animals), the herdsman came to the town and raised hue and cry.
ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਪਾਲਕਾਂ (ਚਰਵਾਹਿਆਂ) ਨੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਅਗਨਤ ਢੋਲ ਨਗਾਰੇ ਬਾਜੇ ॥
(ਬਦਲੇ ਲਈ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਢੋਲ ਅਤੇ ਨਗਾਰੇ ਵਜਣ ਲਗੇ
ਕੌਚ ਪਹਿਰਿ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਬਿਰਾਜੇ ॥੨॥
The drums were beaten and many courageous ones came out holding their spears and daggers.(2)
ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਕਵਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੨॥
