ਚੌਪਈ:
ਚਾਚਰ ਪਰੀ ਨਗਰ ਮੈ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੌਲੀ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਦੀ ਧੁੰਮ ਮਚ ਗਈ।
ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਸਭੈ ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
Holy, the festival of colours was at full swing in the town, and every man and woman danced and sang.
ਸਾਰੇ ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
ਨਵਲਾਸਿਨ ਹਾਥਨ ਲਹਕਾਵੈ ॥

(ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ) ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫੁਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਛਟੀਆਂ ਲਟਕ (ਜਾਂ ਚਮਕ) ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ
ਚਤੁਰਨ ਕੇ ਚਤੁਰਾ ਤਨ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੯॥
The old enjoyed with old and threw flowers on each other.(9)
ਅਤੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਤੁਰ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਮਾਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੯॥
