ਦੋਹਰਾ:
ਪੁਨਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਐਸੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਨਿਯੈ ਕਥਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
Then the Minister said, ‘Listen to another story, my Raja.’
ਫਿਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! (ਤੁਸੀਂ) ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣੋ।
ਤੇਹੀ ਚੋਰ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਇਕ ਕਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਕਹੋ ਉਤਾਲ ॥੧॥
‘The same thief played another trick which I tell you now.(1)
ਉਸ ਚੋਰ ਨੇ ਇਕ (ਹੋਰ) ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹ ਮੈਂ ਸ਼ੀਘਰ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
