ਚੌਪਈ:
ਅਲਤਾ ਸਾਥ ਭਯੋ ਅੰਧਯਾਰੋ ॥
ਗੁਲਾਲ (ਦੇ ਸੁਟੇ ਜਾਣ ਕਾਰਨ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪਰਤ ਨਹਿ ਹਾਥ ਪਸਾਰੋ ॥
The sprinkling of colours became so intense that even the hand was not visible
ਹੱਥ ਪਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਵੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਆਉਂਦੇ।
ਰਾਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਅੰਬੀਰ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਪਾਰਾ ॥

ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਲਾਲ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਜਾਨੁਕ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿ ਅੰਧ ਕੈ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੧੮॥
The Rani put colour in her husband’s eyes and blinded him(18)
ਮਾਨੋ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੮॥
