ਗਗਾ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਹੁ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਜਪਿ ਨੀਤ ॥

GAGGA: Chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe with each and every breath; meditate on Him forever.

(ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ!) ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਸਦਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੋ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਰਵਹੁ = ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰੋ। ਨੀਤ = ਨਿੱਤ। ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ = ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ।

ਕਹਾ ਬਿਸਾਸਾ ਦੇਹ ਕਾ ਬਿਲਮ ਨ ਕਰਿਹੋ ਮੀਤ ॥

How can you rely on the body? Do not delay, my friend;

(ਵੇਖਣਾ) ਢਿੱਲ ਨ ਕਰਨੀ, ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਬਿਸਾਸਾ = ਵਿਸਾਹ, ਇਤਬਾਰ। ਬਿਲਮ = ਢਿੱਲ।

ਨਹ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਨਹ ਜੋਬਨੈ ਨਹ ਬਿਰਧੀ ਕਛੁ ਬੰਧੁ ॥

there is nothing to stand in Death's way - neither in childhood, nor in youth, nor in old age.

ਬਾਲਪਨ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜੁਆਨੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ) ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਬੰਧੁ = ਰੁਕਾਵਟ।

ਓਹ ਬੇਰਾ ਨਹ ਬੂਝੀਐ ਜਉ ਆਇ ਪਰੈ ਜਮ ਫੰਧੁ ॥

That time is not known, when the noose of Death shall come and fall on you.

ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਜਮ ਦਾ ਰੱਸਾ (ਗਲ ਵਿਚ) ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬੇਰਾ = ਵੇਲਾ। ਫੰਧੁ = ਫਾਹੀ, ਰੱਸਾ।

ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਚਤੁਰ ਪੇਖਿ ਰਹਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਹ ਠਾਇ ॥

See, that even spiritual scholars, those who meditate, and those who are clever shall not stay in this place.

ਵੇਖੋ! ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਹੋਣ, ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਣ, ਸਿਆਣੇ ਹੋਣ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ। ਪੇਖਿ = ਵੇਖ।

ਛਾਡਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਗਈ ਮੂੜ ਤਹਾ ਲਪਟਾਹਿ ॥

Only the fool clings to that, which everyone else has abandoned and left behind.

ਮੂਰਖ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੱਫਾ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਾਰੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਛੱਡ ਗਈ। ਲਪਟਾਹਿ = ਚੰਬੜਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹੈ ਜਾਹੂ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗ ॥

By Guru's Grace, one who has such good destiny written on his forehead remembers the Lord in meditation.

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਉੱਘੜੇ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਾਹੂ ਮਸਤਕਿ = ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ।
