ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥

Praise the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and practice truthful deeds.

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਇਹ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਦੂਜੀ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਗਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

Attached to other deeds, one is consigned to wander in reincarnation.

'ਨਾਮ' ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਆਹਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝਿਆ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਮੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥

Attuned to the Name, one obtains the Name, and through the Name, sings the Lord's Praises.

'ਨਾਮ' ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ 'ਨਾਮ' ਹੀ ਕਮਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥

Praising the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he merges in the Lord's Name.

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰ-ਸਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
