ਚੌਪਈ:

ਜਬ ਬੇਗਮ ਕਹਿ ਚਰਿਤ ਬਖਾਨ︀ਯੋ ॥

ਜਦ ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ) ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਦਸਿਆ

ਪ੍ਰਾਨਨ ਤੇ ਪ︀ਯਾਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਨ︀ਯੋ ॥

When the Rani displayed such an Chritar, he considered her much more nearer to his heart.

(ਤਾਂ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ।

ਪੁਨਿ ਕਛੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਹਿ ਕਰਿਯੈ ॥

Then he whispered to perform some more chicanery,

ਫਿਰ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ
