ਬੈਸਨੋ ਸੋ ਜਿਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥

The true Vaishnaav, the devotee of Vishnu, is the one with whom God is thoroughly pleased.

ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਤ੍ਰੁਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹੈ ਅਸਲੀ ਵੈਸ਼ਨੋ, ਬੈਸਨੋ = (Skt. वैष्णव) ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂ ਦਾ ਪੁਜਾਰੀ।

ਬਿਸਨ ਕੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਭਿੰਨ ॥

He dwells apart from Maya.

ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਬੇ-ਦਾਗ਼ ਹੈ। ਬਿਸਨ = {Skt. विष्णु The second deity of the Sacred Hindu Triad, entrusted with the preservation of the world, which duty he is represented to have duly discharged by his various incarnations; The word is thus popularly derived: यस्माद्विश्वमिदं सर्वं तस्य शक्त्यः महात्मना ॥ तस्मादेवोच्यते विष्णुर्विशधातोः प्रवेशनात् ॥ ਜਗਤ = ਪਾਲਕ।

ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਿਹਕਰਮ ॥

Performing good deeds, he does not seek rewards.

ਜੋ (ਧਰਮ ਦੇ) ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਲ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ, ਨਿਹਕਰਮ = ਕਰਮ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਲ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਨਾਹ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ।

ਤਿਸੁ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਕਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਧਰਮ ॥

Spotlessly pure is the religion of such a Vaishnaav;

ਉਸ ਵੈਸ਼ਨੋ ਦਾ ਧਰਮ (ਭੀ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ ।

ਕਾਹੂ ਫਲ ਕੀ ਇਛਾ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਛੈ ॥

he has no desire for the fruits of his labors.

ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਫਲ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਹਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ; ਬਾਛੈ = ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਕੇਵਲ ਭਗਤਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਚੈ ॥

He is absorbed in devotional worship and the singing of Kirtan, the songs of the Lord's Glory.

ਨਿਰਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥

Within his mind and body, he meditates in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe.

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,

ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥

He is kind to all creatures.

ਜੋ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਆਪਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ॥

He holds fast to the Naam, and inspires others to chant it.

ਜੋ ਆਪ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ = ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
