ਚੌਪਈ:

ਜਬ ਹੀ ਮਾਸ ਫਾਗੁ ਕੋ ਆਯੋ ॥

ਜਦੋਂ ਫਗਣ ਦਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਆਇਆ

ਨਰ ਨਾਰਿਨ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥

‘With the approach of the spring, bloomed the hearts of the males and females.

ਤਾਂ ਮਰਦਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਆਨੰਦ ਵਧਾਇਆ।

ਘਰ ਘਰ ਹੋਤ ਕੁਲਾਹਲ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

‘With the approach of the spring, bloomed the hearts of the males and females.

ਘਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਰੌਲਾ ਪੈਣ ਲਗਾ

ਚਾਚਰ ਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਤਾ ਕੌ ॥

Every house was showered with bliss and they revelled in singing with clapping hands.(4)

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਚਾਚਰ ਮਤੀ ਸੀ।

ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਿਧ ਬਪੁ ਕਿਯ ਵਾ ਕੋ ॥

There was one female called Chaachar Mall who was pretty and endowed with a very slim body.

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਵਿਧਾਤਾ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਸੀ।

ਮਾਨੀ ਸੈਨ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਕੋ ਨਾਮਾ ॥

ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਮਾਨੀ ਸੈਨ ਸੀ

ਰੂਪਵੰਤ ਨਟ ਤਵਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

There was one Raja named Mani Sen who he had a wife called Chaachar Mati (5)

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਰੂਪਵਾਨ ਨਟ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ।

ਮਦਨ ਤਬੈ ਤਨ ਬਿਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

When she saw a handsome acrobat, she felt as if she was shot by the Cupid arrow.

ਤਦੋਂ ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਣ ਮਾਰਿਆ।

ਮਨ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਬਚ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਸਿ ਭਈ ॥
