ਚੌਪਈ:
ਸੁਨੋ ਰਾਇ ਇਕ ਕਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੋ ॥
(ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ-) ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਸੁਣੋ, ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਕਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਚਿਤ ਕੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੋ ॥
My Raja, to eliminate false doubts from your mind, I would relate a story.
(ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ) ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਚਿਤ ਦਾ ਭਰਮ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਗੈਂਡੇ ਖਾ ਡੋਗਰ ਤਹ ਰਹੈ ॥
ਉਥੇ ਇਕ ਗੈਂਡੇ ਖਾਂ (ਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਡੋਗਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਫਤੇ ਮਤੀ ਤਿਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਜਗ ਕਹੈ ॥੧॥
There was one Gainde Khan Dogar, whose wife was known as Fateh Mati in the world.(1)
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕੀਂ ਫਤੇ ਮਤੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੧॥
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਮਹਿਖ ਧਾਮ ਧਨ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
There was one Gainde Khan Dogar, whose wife was known as Fateh Mati in the world.(1)
ਉਸ ਪਾਸ ਮੱਝਾਂ (ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ) ਬਹੁਤ ਧਨ ਸੀ।
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਕਰਤਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਰਖਵਾਰੀ ॥
He was deemed to be very wealthy in view of his great number of buffaloes, whom he looked after very diligently.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਰਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਚਰਵਾਰੇ ਬਹੁ ਤਿਨੈ ਚਰਾਵਹਿ ॥
He was deemed to be very wealthy in view of his great number of buffaloes, whom he looked after very diligently.
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਚਰਵਾਹੇ ਚਰਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ
ਸਾਝ ਪਰੈ ਘਰ ਕੋ ਲੈ ਆਵਹਿ ॥੨॥
He kept a few herdsman who used to bring the herd back in the evening.(2)
ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਪੈਣ ਤੇ ਘਰ ਲੈ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੨॥
ਇਕ ਚਰਵਾਹਾ ਸੌ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਅਟਕੀ ॥
He kept a few herdsman who used to bring the herd back in the evening.(2)
ਇਕ ਚਰਵਾਹੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਫਸ ਗਈ
ਭੂਲਿ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਘਟਕੀ ॥
The woman fell in love with one herdsman and lost all her senses.
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ (ਅਥਵਾ ਘਰ) ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੁਧ ਬੁਧ ਭੁਲ ਗਈ।
ਨਿਤਿਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਦੀ
ਨਦੀ ਪੈਰਿ ਬਹੁਰੋ ਘਰ ਆਵੈ ॥੩॥
She would go across the stream everyday and come back after making love.(3)
ਅਤੇ ਨਦੀ ਤਰ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਘਰ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ॥੩॥
ਡੋਗਰ ਸੋਧ ਏਕ ਦਿਨ ਲਹਿਯੋ ॥
She would go across the stream everyday and come back after making love.(3)
ਡੋਗਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਲਗ ਗਈ
ਤੁਰਤੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕੋ ਪਾਛੋ ਗਹਿਯੋ ॥
One day Dogar got the wind of this and instantly followed her.
ਅਤੇ ਤੁਰਤ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਛਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਕੇਲ ਕਰਤ ਨਿਰਖੇ ਤਹ ਜਾਈ ॥
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਬੈਠ ਰਹਾ ਜਿਯ ਕੋਪ ਬਢਾਈ ॥੪॥
When he saw her revelling in sex-play, he flew into a rage.(4)
ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਿਆ ॥੪॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕੇਲਿ ਸੋਇ ਤੇ ਗਏ ॥
ਰਤੀ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸੌਂ ਗਏ
ਬੇਸੰਭਾਰ ਨਿਜੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਭਏ ॥
Luxuriating so excitingly they fell into sleep and became unaware of environs.
ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਬੇਸੁਰਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਸੋਵਤ ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨ ਨਾਥ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
Luxuriating so excitingly they fell into sleep and became unaware of environs.
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ) ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਸੁਤਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਕਾਢਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੫॥
When he saw them sleeping together, he took out a sword and killed him.(5)
ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਕਢ ਕੇ (ਚਰਵਾਹੇ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੫॥
