ਚੌਪਈ:
ਜੂਤੀ ਬਹੁ ਤਿਹ ਮੂੰਡ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਜੁਤੀਆਂ ਮਾਰੀਆਂ
ਮੁਸਕੈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਐਠ ਚੜਾਈ ॥
His face was hit with shoes and hands were tied tightly.
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਕਸ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ।
ਬੰਦਸਾਲ ਤਿਹ ਦਿਯਾ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦੀਖਾਨੇ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਆਨਿ ਆਪਨੀ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥੮॥
He was put in the jail, and the woman came back to her bed.(8)
ਅਤੇ (ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਜ ਉਪਰ ਆ ਗਈ ॥੮॥
ਇਹ ਛਲ ਖੇਲਿ ਰਾਇ ਭਜ ਆਯੋ ॥

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਛਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ (ਉਥੋਂ) ਭਜ ਆਇਆ।
ਬੰਦਸਾਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
Through such a deception, the Raja went free and despatched her brother to the prison.
ਬੰਦੀਖਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਭਰਾ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਸਿਖ︀ਯਨ ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
(ਕੋਈ ਵੀ) ਸੇਵਕ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਿਆ
ਵਾਹੀ ਕੌ ਤਸਕਰ ਠਹਰਾਯੋ ॥੯॥
None of the Sikhs could comprehend the mystery and they thought her brother to be a thief.(9)
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੋਰ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ॥੯॥
