ਦੋਹਰਾ:
ਮਾਰਿ ਓਡਛਾ ਰਾਇ ਕੋ ਲਈ ਸੁਤਾ ਤਿਹ ਜੀਤਿ ॥
The Ruler of Orrisa was assassinated and his daughter was won over.
ਉੜੀਸਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਲਿਆ।
ਬਰੀ ਰਾਇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਮਨ ਮਾਨਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਕੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧੭॥
And the Raja married her according to the customs of the Shastras.(l7)
ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਦੀ ਰੀਤ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੭॥
ਓਡਛੇਸ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਹਿਤੂ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਮਤੀ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਮ ॥
The daughter of the Ruler of Orrisa was known as Chitramatti.
ਉੜੀਸਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ (ਧੀ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਮਤੀ ਸੀ,
ਹਨਿਵਤਿ ਸਿੰਘਹਿ ਸੋ ਰਹੈ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਆਠੋ ਜਾਮ ॥੧੮॥
She always had sensual looks for Hanwant Singh.(l8)
ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਹਨਿਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ ॥੧੮॥
ਪੜਨ ਹੇਤੁ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੌਪ︀ਯੋ ਦਿਜ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
He was sent by the Raja to the household of a Brahmin to seek education.
ਉਸ (ਹਨਿਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ) ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਲਈ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਭੇਜਿਆ।
ਏਕ ਮਾਸ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਦਿਜਬਰ ਬੋਲ︀ਯਹੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧੯॥
But (as instructed by the Rani), (the Brahmin) did not speak to him for one month.(l9)
ਇਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਤਕ (ਰਾਣੀ ਦੇ) ਕਹੇ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ (ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ) ਨਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ॥੧੯॥
