ਚੌਪਈ:
ਐਸੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਥਾ ਤਹ ਭਈ ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਉਥੇ ਹੋਈ।
ਉਤੈ ਕਥਾ ਪੰਡ੍ਵਨ ਪਰ ਗਈ ॥
The word went round and the news reached to the Pandavs.
ਉਧਰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਪਾਂਡਵਾਂ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਈ
ਜਹਾ ਦੁਖਿਤ ਵੈ ਬਨਹਿ ਬਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਉਹ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਨ ਵਿਚ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਸਨ
ਕੰਦ ਮੂਲ ਭਛੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮਾਰੈ ॥੧੪॥
Distrustfully, they were already roaming around in the jungles,And were living by hunting deer and eating tree leaves and roots.(14)
ਅਤੇ ਕੰਦ ਮੂਲ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਹਿਰਨ (ਜਾਂ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਪਸ਼ੂ) ਮਾਰ ਕੇ (ਸਮਾਂ ਬਿਤਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ) ॥੧੪॥
