ਚੌਪਈ:
ਦੁਖਤ ਅਹੀਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਕੋ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
ਉਹ ਗੁਜਰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖੀ ਰਖਦਾ ਸੀ
ਕਟੁ ਕਟੁ ਬਚਨ ਰੈਨ ਦਿਨ ਭਾਖੈ ॥
The milkman had kept the woman under distress and, day in and day out, used to beat her.
ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਕੌੜੇ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਗੋਰਸ ਬੇਚਨ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਦੇਈ ॥

ਦੁੱਧ ਵੇਚਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ
ਛੀਨਿ ਬੇਚਿ ਗਹਨਨ ਕਹ ਲਈ ॥੩॥
He would not let her go to sell even the milk and he had snatched her ornaments and sold them.(3)
ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਗਹਿਣੇ ਵੀ ਖੋਹ ਕੇ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ ॥੩॥
