ਚੌਪਈ:
ਬਾਸਵ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
ਇੰਦਰ ('ਬਾਸਵ') ਨੇ ਜੋ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਉਸ (ਦਸ਼ਰਥ) ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਸੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਭੇਦ ਕੇਕਈ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
Whatever he (Raja) was told and conveyed, Kaikaee (Dasrath’s consort) secretly came to know as well.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕੈਕਈ ਵਿਚਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਸਮਝ ਲਈ।
ਚਲੇ ਚਲੋ ਰਹਿ ਹੌ ਤੌ ਰਹਿ ਹੌ ॥
(ਕੈਕਈ ਨੇ ਦਸ਼ਰਥ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ) ਚਲੋਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਾਂਗੀ, ਜੇ ਰਹੋਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਰਹਾਂਗੀ।
ਨਾਤਰ ਦੇਹ ਅਗਨਿ ਮੈ ਦਹਿ ਹੌ ॥੫॥
(She said to the Raja)) ‘I will accompany you, as well and if you don’t (take me with you), I will immolate my body in the fire.(5)
(ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨ ਦਿਓਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ) ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹ ਅਗਨੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਾੜ ਦਿਆਂਗੀ ॥੫॥
ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੋ ਮੋਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੌ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
ਕੈਕਈ ਦਾ ਰਾਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੀ।
ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਉਹ ਓਰਿ ਪਧਾਰੋ ॥
The lady had loved Raja and the Raja adored the Rani immensely, She added, ‘I will serve you during the fight,
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਰਾਜਾ) ਉਥੇ (ਰਣਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ) ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਬਾਲ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੇਵਾ ਤਵ ਕਰਿਹੋ ॥
ਕੈਕਈ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ (ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ।
ਜੂਝੋ ਨਾਥ ਪਾਵਕਹਿ ਬਰਿਹੋ ॥੬॥
‘And, my Master, if you die, I will become a Sati by sacrificing my body (in the fire) with yours.’(6)
ਹੇ ਨਾਥ! ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ (ਮੈਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੀ ॥੬॥
ਅਵਧ ਰਾਜ ਤਹ ਤੁਰਤ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥
ਅਯੁਧਿਆ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਉਥੋਂ ਲਈ ਤੁਰਤ ਚਲ ਪਿਆ
ਸੁਰ ਅਸੁਰਨ ਜਹ ਜੁਧ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥
The king of Ayodhiya marched immediately towards where the fighting between the gods and the devils was going on.
ਜਿਥੇ ਦੇਵ-ਅਸੁਰ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਮਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ,
ਬਜ੍ਰ ਬਾਨ ਬਿਛੂਆ ਜਹ ਬਰਖੈ ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਬਜ੍ਰ ਵਰਗੇ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਛੂ (ਵਰਗੇ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਬਜ਼ਾਂ) ਦੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ
ਕੁਪਿ ਕੁਪਿ ਬੀਰ ਧਨੁਹਿਯਨ ਕਰਖੈ ॥੭॥
Where stone-like hard bows and poisonous scorpion-like arrows were being showered and the braves were pulling them.(7)
ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧਵੀਰ ਕਮਾਨਾਂ ਖਿਚ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੭॥
